In a world where everything is going “fast forward”, libraries are real oases of peace in which you can regain your balance.

We continue to discover the neighborhood libraries in Bucharest. This time we will stop at Districts 3 and 4, where many such institutions operate.

“Elena Văcărescu” Foreign Language Library

District 3 of the Capital can boast that there is the Library of Foreign Languages ​​”Elena Văcărescu”. The institution is located on Strada Colței, number 27 and has an area of ​​73 square meters. In this place, the people of Bucharest have access to a loan room, a multifunctional reading room with a capacity of ten seats, fitted with the necessary equipment to carry out cultural, educational and social programs, but also to two computers.

The library has a collection of over 5,000 documents in French (books, dictionaries, albums, encyclopedias), from all fields of knowledge.

“Emil Gârleanu” Library

“Emil Gârleanu” library has a space of 135 square meters. The branch is located on Octavian Goga Boulevard no. 6 and includes a toy library, where children have access to collections of books in Romanian and games, organized by different age groups. Also, the library has a loan room with free access to bookshelf for children and parents, a multifunctional room with a capacity of ten seats, three computers for the public, a multifunctional printer, scanner, video projector, etc.

The collection of this library includes over 10,000 books, dictionaries, albums, encyclopedias, CDs, DVDs.

“Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu” Library

On Traian Street, at number 2, the Library “Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu” operates, a branch that has a space of 280 square meters. This library has a loan room with free access to bookshelf for adults, a multifunctional reading room with a capacity of six seats, but also five computers for the public.

The collection of the institution consists of over 50,000 documents.

“Liviu Rebreanu” Library

Also in District 3 we find the “Liviu Rebreanu” Library. The branch is located on Lucreţiu Pătrăşcanu Street, number 13 and has an area of ​​170 square meters.

Readers who access the services of this library can choose from a collection of over 27,000 documents. It also has a loan room with free access to bookshelf for adults, the Children’s World room, which is a specially designed space for the little ones to do their homework, play or do their projects for the school, but also has a multifunctional reading room with a capacity of 12 seats.

“Ion Neculce” Library

The fifth branch of the Metropolitan Library in District 3 is the “Ion Neculce” Library, on Dristorului Street, numbers 97-119. Even though it has a space of only 63 square meters, the unit has a loan room with free access to bookshelf and a multifunctional reading room. It also offers two computers and a collection of over 15,000 books, dictionaries, albums, encyclopedias, CDs, DVDs.

„Nicolae Bălcescu” Library

We move to District 4, where another five neighborhood libraries operate.

The first one is the Library “Nicolae Bălcescu”, which we find on the Giugiului Road, numbers 86-92.

This branch has an area of ​​90 square meters and has both a loan room with free access to bookshelf for adults and a multifunctional reading room with a capacity of eight seats. It also has three computers for the public.

The collection of „Nicolae Bălcescu” Library consists of over 30,000 documents.

“Otilia Cazimir” Library

Bucharest people are great book lovers.

In turn, “Otilia Cazimir” library provides the readers a loan room with free access to bookshelf, a multifunctional reading room with a capacity of ten seats and three computers.

The collection of this library, located on Turnul Măgurele Street, number 19, is made up of more than 10,000 documents.

“George Coșbuc” Library

“George Coșbuc” Library operates in District 4 of the Capital, which can be found on Radului Street, number 40.

The institution has a loan room with free access to bookshelves for children and adults, a multifunctional reading room and four computers for the public. It also has a collection of over 18,000 library documents, from all fields of knowledge.

“Alexandru Macedonski” Library

In “Alexandru Macedonski” Library, readers have access to over 12,000 books, dictionaries, albums, encyclopedias, CDs, DVDs. The branch is located on Turnu Măgurele Street, number 13, and covers an area of ​​90 square meters. And here, the public benefits from a loan room with free access to bookshelf, a multifunctional reading room and three computers.

“Ienăchiță Văcărescu” Library

The fifth branch in District 4 is the “Ienăchiță Văcărescu” Library. The institution operates on Bosianu Street, number 10 and has a area of 90 square meters. The collection of this library includes over 17,000 documents that readers can access in the loan room or consult in the multifunctional reading room.
