“Being eternally young does not mean being 20 years old, it means being optimistic, feeling good, having a goal in life to fight for and conquer.” It was the creed Prof. Dr. Ana Aslan, the doctor who discovered eternal youth.
The greatest wealth of a man is health. Regardless of age, the one who is healthy has the strength to achieve everything he wants.
Prof. Dr. Ana Aslan has left us an invaluable gift, which we Romanians should learn to value better. It is about the National Institute of Gerontology and Geriatrics “Ana Aslan”. It was the first of its kind in the world, being founded in 1952.
The clinic that Ana Aslan set up became very quickly known throughout the world. The celebrity was also boosted by the fact that Ana Aslan invented, even in the year she founded the institute (1952), Gerovital, a product meant to combat old age.
Thanks to the two major projects, the institute and the Gerovital, Ana Aslan receives recognition from the medical world. The value of her work is also rewarded in 1952 with the international award and the “Leon Bernard” medal. The distinction comes from the World Health Organization and was offered to the Romanian researcher for her contribution to the development of geriatrics and gerontology.
It was the moment that would bring Romania to the forefront of the international medical world, which, we must admit, always “runs” for the discovery of treatments that will help man to fight more easily with the consequences of aging of the body.
As long as she was active in her clinic, Ana Aslan did not stop her research work, and in 1980 she invented, together with pharmacist Elena Polovrăgeanu, the geriatric product Aslavital.
The reputation of the clinic in Bucharest has spread in all social media. Not only ordinary tourists have chosen to come and treat themselves in the Romanian capital, but also great personalities of those times. The list of patients treated by Ana Aslan included Charlie Chaplin, Marshal Tito, Marlene Dietrich, Lillian Gish, Aristotel Onasis, Jaqueline Kenedy, ltzack Shamir, Marshal de Gaulle, Indira Ghandi, King of Saudi Arabia, General Franco, Pablo Neruda, Salvador Dali, Miguel Asturias etc.
Even though Prof. dr. Ana Aslan died in 1988, the institute that bears her name works and today it is one of the places that make Bucharest a top tourist destination, due to its treatment centers.
Let’s go to the baths in … Bucharest
The famous “baths” that usually are frequented by persons who are past their prime to follow a series of treatments that help them to fight with the diseases that appear as they get older, have a perfect correspondent in the National Institute of Gerontology and Geriatrics “Ana Aslan”.
So let’s go “to the baths” in Bucharest, in the best place where we can treat, but also prevent, the consequences of old age.
And we should not make such a decision when we get close to retirement. It is important to prevent it, so after 40 years Gerovital therapy can work wonders for our body.

And at the National Institute of Gerontology and Geriatrics “Ana Aslan” can be reached very easily, the unit functioning both in hospital and outpatient.
It should be mentioned that the hospitalizations are made according to the law of health insurance, therefore all patients residing in Romania benefit from free emergency medical care / medical assistance based on the quality of the insured person / medical assistance on request – with the full payment of the hospitalization expenses. The medical services are settled by the National Health Insurance House (CNAS), if the patients have the quality of insured.
As for patients coming from abroad, their hospitalization is made only with a prior appointment. The period of hospitalization can be seven or 14 days. The price includes accommodation, three meals and treatment according to the “Ana Aslan” method.
The National Institute of Gerontology and Geriatrics “Ana Aslan” also benefits from a very well-established ambulatory, which operates in Spătarului Street, number 15, District 2.
The medical professionals working here offer consultations in the following specialties: Geriatrics – Gerontology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Urology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Recovery, Physical Medicine and Balneology, Psychology.
